Scholarship Details

The Greater New Bedford Garden Club offers the Rose L. Murphy Scholarship of $2000 to high school seniors who will be freshmen in the Fall or who are currently attending an accredited four year college or university and pursuing a degree in one of the following fields:

  • Agriculture
  • Conservation
  • Horticulture
  • Landscape Architecture
  • Forestry
  • or Environmental Sciences.

The Scholarship Committee of the Greater New Bedford Garden Club will review all applications and two or more scholarships will be awarded.

Scholarship Applicant’s Responsibilities

The application must be postmarked by April 1, 2024 and include the following items:

  • Completed application
  • Current official transcript
  • Three letter of reference from a non relative
  • A one page essay composed by the applicant explaining his or her occupational goals and how they relate to the clubs’ goals.

The applicant must be enrolled in one of the fields listed above at the college or university of his or her choice and begin studies no later than September, 2024.

Scholarships will be awarded at the Garden Club’s annual banquet and checks will be mailed to the individual after the Scholarship Committee receives the first semester official transcript.

GCFM Scholarship

The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc. offers scholarships for undergraduate students (including high school seniors who will be freshmen in the Fall), and graduate students who will be attending accredited colleges and universities.

Applications are due April 1, 2024

National Scholarship

NGC is proud of its college scholarship program which offers financial aid to students majoring in fields of study related to horticulture and the environment.
